Video surveillance has improved dramatically over the years and now the next big step. Multi-Touch? Yes, the good people over at LexTech have made a great program using the Iphone SDK code named:iVy. Taking advantage of the Iphones flick, pinch, and drag the UI is very simple and the streaming video handles very well over the edge network. For more information visit Lextech.

Finally!!! An Iphone Competitor

Posted in Daily with tags , , , , , , , on May 7, 2008 by techbock

The Diamond by HTC is a very sleek and eye catching phone. With a touch UI that runs on top of Windows Mobile that is called TouchFlo I think that this is the first actual competitor against the Iphone. This Diamond comes with the speedy HSDPA for 3.5G Web browsing and downloads and it also has Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, 4GB of memory, a 3.2 megapixle, and an accelerometer so that it will change to landscape mode when you turn it on its side. For web browsing the Diamond includes Opera and an app for Youtube. On paper the 3G web and other specs beat out the IPhone but do you think this is the cell phone that will give Apple a run for its money?

MIT for free!!!

Posted in Daily with tags , , , , , on May 7, 2008 by techbock

MIT is the most respected University for technology in the U.S. and expensive right? Wrong. Well kinda this is what happens someone at MIT has been recording lectures, the university let them, and they have posted the video on to the MIT website. Now this really can’t benefit you, unless you fork up the money for the actual class, except its free to watch and you can learn things that you didn’t know and basically your getting a free college education. I think that this was originally created so that people taking the classes could review their lectures. Here is where the flaw is you can watch all of the video and read all of the PDFs they have there and you wont get any credits for actually getting a degree but still its good for reviewing if you’ve been to college or getting a feel for what you want to do when you go to college.

The Modern CB Radio

Posted in Daily with tags , , , , , , on May 6, 2008 by techbock

In the past big-rig truckers would tell everyone within 5 Trapstermiles of them, in there own language, where cops were hiding and where the speedtraps were located using CB radios. In this modern day and age we use will all soon use Trapster. Essentially what the people at Trapster have done is made a program that will run on your cell phone. This program will tell you where speeding cameras, unnoticed speed limit changes, and cops with there radar guns. This really helps you out when you in a hurry or trying not to get a speeding ticket.

Web Acceleration

Google Lab’s Web Accelerator has been working very well on my computer and is very useful. I love how it tells you how much time you save.Googles Web Accelerator shows you how much time you save. It works like this, instead of the data going through you computer directly it goes to a Google Web Accelerator deticated computer that have saved certain web site that are often visited and also compressing data before they send the data back to your computer. Now this won’t speed up your average Dial Up, as much, as a regular broadband connection because right now its optimized for speeding up broadband connections. I hope that y’all try it out.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on May 4, 2008 by techbock

Welcome to my new tech blog. Before I start let me tell you somethings about myself.

My name is Jim Bockmon I am currently going to Fairmont Junior High and have been very knowledgeable about computer and technology since a young age probably because my dad is a DataBase Administrator. I am currently learning the python programing language. I hope to be learning, teaching, and meeting others through this blog.

This blog is currently aimed at anything that is having to do with tech I hope to post some tutorial and maybe videos for things having to do with Linux. But yes there will be tutorials and news post about things from Microsoft and Windows.

If you have anything that you think i should post on the blog like a tutorial or article that you like than send a link and some information about it in an e-mail to techbock@gmail.com (and just a warning sometimes i might not post something that isn’t very on-topic to technology ex. homemade fireworks, homemade combustion engine, and things that are cool like that). Also I’m not sure if this is going to be a weekly or daily blog or both.

I hope you like what I have, and will have, to offer you on this blog. (and if you don’t please don’t leave comments criticizing me , unless there is something incorrect in the article thats constructive criticizem:-)
